Social Impact Assessments
Social Impact Assessments (SIAs) provide a comprehensive understanding of a project's socioeconomic and cultural implications. They support informed decision-making by balancing project objectives with community needs and priorities while ensuring that social impacts are addressed responsibly.

Our SIA work is guided by a strong commitment to international safeguard policies and related guidelines from the World Bank, IFC, and IDB, as well as to Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) procedures. Our first SIA, conducted around 2010, was for Suriname’s state oil company, Staatsolie. Since then, we have led or contributed to numerous SIA teams for onshore and offshore oil and gas projects, multinational mining operations, infrastructure developments, the Paramaribo Urban Revitalization Program, and more.
At Social Solutions, we conduct SIAs typically as part of interdisciplinary Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) teams, working alongside environmental specialists and engineers. Depending on the project, our social team may be strengthened with Indigenous Peoples specialists, archaeologists, community representatives, and other key experts to ensure we meet international professional standards.
